PestworldforKids.org is part of the National Pest Management Association's efforts to educate future consumers about the benefits of professional pest control and encourage their interest in professional pest control as a career. In order to generate this interest, the association, along with Vault Communications, Educational Web Adventures, and CreativeMatter.net developed an educational children’s web site dedicated to pests.
The website explores pest ecology as the intersection between human-created habitats and animal needs for food and shelter. The site is designed for students and teachers in the elementary and middle school grade. The web site offers information resources, interactive learning games, science fair kits, and lesson plans that support national standards developed by the National Science Teacher Association and the National Council of Teachers of English.
We gratefully acknowledge Univar for contributing many photographs of pest animals for display throughout the web site. Images for "Starling", "Woodpecker", "Baldface Hornet", "European Hornet" and "Pigeon" are use with permission on the GNU Free Documentation Licence, version 1.2.
